Patmos has, despite its small size, a strong road network expansion in a largely good condition, which almost all of the numerous coves and beach attractions up to a few metres. There are many car and scooter rentals, buses and taxis. Since the island was declared national shrine, there is a difficulty with planning permission procedures, so does the number of tourists on the island are limited. This is the administration deliberately so controlled, so that no “Ballermann tourism lightning storms. Most beaches are virtually empty and have often only one restaurant to offer. There are, however, large quantities of daily visitors and pilgrims. High season is from May to October.
Sandy beaches are only on the south and east side encountered. In the north – in particular Lampis Bay – are fascinating from the beaches until Walnußgröße colorful stones. The west side consists mainly of schroffer cliffs.
Patmos is only reachable by boat. But there is a helicopter landing pad for military and emergencies. The next season by Germany connections to the airport on the island of Kos. From Kos’ port, there are regular ferries after Patmos, between the two (catamaran) and four hours (car ferry) .
